Lactation Educator Certificate Program
While breastfeeding is a normal and natural function for a new mother and can be a wonderfully rewarding experience, it can also present new challenges for parents. Unless these challenges are met with accurate information and compassionate support the breastfeeding experience can become a time of frustration, discouragement, pain and failure to continue breastfeeding.
Lactation Education is a tool to prepare and equip expectant families to breastfeed their newborn.
This course is designed to provide basic information about the benefits, anatomy, process, and common challenges of breastfeeding. Ideally participants will attend during their third trimester of pregnancy so that they are confident to breastfeed immediately following birth.
This course is for the experienced Breastfeeding Support Counselor or other birthing community worker who has had training in breastfeeding. It includes “Breastfeeding Your Baby” Lactation Curriculum and teaching tools.
This is a one day training seminar.
See specific training under the upcoming events tab for location specific cost.
**Lamaze International has approved this course for 7 hours of continuing education credit.
